Johns Hopkins University
Project: Space Telescope Science Institute
4th Floor Addition & Renovations
Location: Homewood Campus - Baltimore, MD
Square Feet: 10,000
Kinsley constructed a fourth floor to the JHU Space Telescope facility on the Homewood Campus of Johns Hopkins University. Kinsley coordinated the weather protection at the roofing and new floor connections of the addition to ensure a damage-free environment to occupied work spaces below, since much of the work was done during fall and winter conditions. Attention was given to the exterior wall material selection, so an identical building match was achieved.

York College of Pennsylvania
Project: Organic Chemistry Lab Renovation
Location: York, PA
The project construction started by demolition and shoring of a bearing wall on the second floor between two classrooms, followed by the installation of structural steel to provide a larger teaching space. The larger teaching space allowed the college to provide 12 state-of-the-art chemistry hoods and 2 elongated work benches to facilitate 24 students. Kinsley worked closely with faculty and staff to determine the desired room parameters and guidelines, even after the design inception.

YWCA
Project: YWCA of York – Renovation Project

The renovations to the YWCA of York included a new, state-of-the art fitness center, additional child care space, modernized aquatics area, updated administrative offices, locker rooms and toilet facilities. Mechanical and electrical systems were updated and a fire sprinkler system was added. The building was made accessible by adding a handicap entrance and an elevator. A new roof was installed and the windows were replaced in the fitness center area.

Stryker Brigade
Project: Renovation & Addition to Kutztown
Armory Readiness Center
Location: Kutztown, PA
Square Feet: 31,586 Total
Kinsley constructed a 16,000 SF addition and made renovations to the interior of the existing 15,000 SF armory that was built in the 1950s. The exterior walls of the addition are masonry bearing with brick veneer to match the existing building. The renovations to existing areas were primarily upgrades to the mechanical and electrical systems. A new fuel island was added along with various site improvements.

The Forbush School
Project: School for Children with Autism
Location: Hunt Valley, MD

Accolades: Excellence in Design Award
Kinsley utilized our valuable adaptive reuse experience in converting this former office/warehouse to a state-of-the-art therapeutic school. The project entailed complete interior demolition, new windows, entrance, interior partitions and mechanical, electrical and sprinkler systems. Sitework included a new loop road to accommodate bus traffic and an outdoor playground area.

Gettysburg College
Project: Dining Hall Addition/Renovation
Location: Gettysburg, PA
Square Feet: 15,000 - Total
Kinsley renovated the existing dining hall and constructed an addition. We upgraded the kitchen, entry hall, restrooms and the mechanical and electrical systems, replaced finished, revised the floor layout, and installed an air conditioning system in two areas. The building has masonry bearing walls with steel joists and a rubber roof.

John Hopkins Hospital
Project: Weinberg Chemo Infusion Suite Renovoations

The Kinsley team spearheaded efforts to consolidate this project. The project included reconfiguration of walls, casework, finishes, HVAC, medical gases, power, lighting, data, nurse call and pneumatic tube system.

Strand-Capital Performing Arts Center
Project: Renovation of Historic Theaters

Square Feet: 35,940 - Total
This renovation construction project modernized the theaters and also revitalized downtown York. Expanded areas include the main lobby, box office, restrooms, the stage house and the proscenium. The walls, ceilings, ornamental plaster and paintings were restored. |

Agricultural & Industrial Museum
Project: Additions and Renovations
Location: York, PA
The Agricultural & Industrial Museum provides a history of York Country industries. Kinsley renovated the lobby, installed an elevator and constructed new bathrooms, a transportation wing, display mezzanine and children's lunch area. The atmosphere now has a "rough" and industrial feel. |

Martin Memorial Library
Project: Library Addition/Renovation

The library renovations were completed in a tight workspace and the integrity of the building had to be maintained. Kinsley was responsable for the interior demolition, renovations and basement excavation. The design included a new atrium, new mechanical and electrical system, coffee bar, retail area, teen center and an animated storybook forest. |
