Every project has a story.

Working with existing buildings has many advantages – historical value, personal feelings, speed to market, unique design possibilities, LEED/sustainability concerns, value and savings. Renovations and restorations are found in new buildings as well as older facilities and are usually associated with adaptive reuse or new configuration. The work can be as simple as moving and repainting walls or as complex as complete demolition of select sections or upgrading HVAC systems.

Many times goals are set by owners for the reuse of a building, but local ordinances and zoning may require inspections, historic committee approvals, material and design standards to be set and enforced by others. Kinsley has addressed these types of issues and requirements throughout our whole working history. Developing the right team of architects, consultants, subcontractors and in-house staff that understands the unique requirements to renovate/restore such buildings is an ongoing effort. Kinsley believes an experienced, educated and professional staff is key to repeat clients.

Kinsley has successfully completed small office refits for retail, healthcare and commercial offices with both in-house staff as well as local subcontractors. Kinsley has also been awarded projects of great Historic and National Importance to the adaptive reuse of some of the area’s finest examples of 18th century architectural design. This work cannot be addressed by firms without the knowledge, professional skills and desire to handle these projects.
